Rebel Without a Whisk! is the 79th overall standalone episode of Butterbean's Café which is released alongside the next episode; Key Slime Bars!, on-air and online on February 29, 2020 for the 5th chronological episode of the series' second season.

Summary/Description

Cricket and Poppy's cousin Rebel take Butterbean's whisk without asking! Will Cricket do the right thing and return it?

Plot

Jasper was riding his green machine across the the café. Inside, Butterbean was repeating what a customer who would be later known as Mr. Ramekinn requested about 4 dozen of their steamed vegetable dumplings for his party in the afternoon. Dazzle told him they would be delivered to his backyard and he replied that his friends would love them. He hanged up after thanking them. Cricket asked her big sister how they make dumplings and she replied with the help of her bean screen. Cricket saw them as "little veggie pillows". Poppy exclaimed she'd better get started on them and reminded them to look out for her cousin Rebel as she's coming by for a visit. Butterbean saw that as "nice", while Cricket asked her if she was that person that looks a little silly; she agreed exactly. Cricket exclaimed to herself she likes silly and hopes Rebel would be her friend. Poppy described her cousin's personality to the viewer(s) and knows for sure she and Cricket would get along great.

Cricket was drawing when she heard the door swing and someone greeting. She greeted back before turning to the someone revealed as Rebel herself. She asked if she was Poppy's cousin and she agreed, saying she's seven. Cricket introduced herself as well as adding her age when she was asked who she was. She pictured the café as cooler than an ice cube and asked if she worked there as she picked a banana from a basket. Cricket agreed and she put the banana above her lips and punned her a question of where her her cousin is, which brought a giggle out of Cricket. The latter pointed to the kitchen and Rebel held up as she wanted herself and Cricket surprise Poppy instead, which she bought into. She herself sprang onto her in the kitchen and apologized, seeing that Poppy was off-track. She hugged her and Poppy expressed her joy of seeing her. But she got Cricket to keep company whiles she finishes the dumplings for Mr. Ramekin's party. She giggled as they marched out of the kitchen. Cricket expressed Rebel as cooler than an ice cube and, letting out a inner-joy squeal, is hoping she thinks she's cool too.

Cricket introduced Rebel to the cash register and what it does. Rebel thought of banana muffins before unsightedly pressing buttons in the bean screen whiles rhyming herself "buying things at the café". Cricket clad her facial expression in guilt as she didn't want her to play with it like that. Dazzle asked if an order of 33 banana muffins just arrived or the cash register was going bananas, i.e. controlling itself. Rebel apologized and Dazzle made light but cautioned her that it is only used for orders. She told Cricket to show Rebel somewhere else. Cricket mentioned the closet and what they'll do inside, but on both moving out of the main area, Rebel was both halted and distracted by Butterbean doing the fairy finish with the swirlie bean on Mr. Hudson's salad. She asked Cricket what she was using and how she did it; Cricket's reply, which Rebel labeled "sweet" was her big sister's magic whisk. Poppy brought the packed dumplings on the divisional window via her magic spoon for Butterbean to take to Mr. Ramekin's party. Butterbean put her whisk in its case and took half of them to the sweet ride. With Dazzle entering the kitchen and the place cleared, Rebel took the whisk out, seeing it as "cool", whiles Cricket wanted to her to say "cooler than an ice cube". She asked Cricket how it works and wanted her to do something with the dumplings, the latter of which she used a jumping bean on them to act. With them bouncing out of order, both girls combined to restore them back. But Rebel took the whisk off Cricket's hand just as she placed it on its case. Cricket took after her, wanting it back. Butterbean and Poppy returned and the former took the last remaining pack of dumplings, with the latter reminding her of her whisk. Poppy heard her cousin laugh before the phone rang so she went to answer it. Rebel floated with the whisk and conjured up balloons, half-imitating the fary finish chant. Cricket wanted to politely have put the whisk back in its place (which she repeated to the audience after admiting she is "so cool"), but Rebel is too in love with the wonders of the whisk to let go.

Butterbean finished arranging the table of treats at Mr. Ramekin's house and commented on its look whiles receiving . He wanted to take a peek of the dumplings, only to change mood with them springing out and causing havoc. Butterbean tries to calm the folk down by getting her whisk, only to gasp and change mood with it out of its case when she opened it. She vowed to find it to the viewer(s) before it ruins the party, whiles in truth, it was already happening. Back in the party room at the café, Cricket repeated to Rebel to give the whisk back, but as was before the switch to Mr. Raamekin's, she didn't want to. Overhearing her big sister flying in to call and tell Poppy what's happening at Mr. Ramekin's house as well as contemplating about her missing whisk, Rebel finally felt the urgence at giving it back. Cricket changed mood to mad, but no sooner had Poppy began helping Butterbean search for her whisk and she collecting it than both appeared at the party room in a flash. Butterbean asked her little sister whether or not she used magic on the dumplings; she affirmed and apologized to her as well as give her the whisk after which she left. Cricket admitted to the audience about her mistake wishing that there was no ruining of the party.

Butterbean came back to Mr. Ramekin's house with her whisk and ordered the flying dumplings to stop. She cleared his doubt when he thought there will now be nothing to eat, saying more is on the way. Cricket came and apologized to her big sister again, but she wanted to know why she took the whisk without permission. Rebel owned up before Cricket began answering, adding that if she practised magic with it, Cricket will befriend her. But Cricket wanted to befriend her as she's 'cooler than an ice cube'. They hugged while Poppy thought of them making some ice-cold lemonade whiles she and Butterbean make new batch of fresh dumplings. They prepared them accompanied by Let's Get Cooking!. They brought them out and both Rebel and Cricket apologized to Mr. Ramekin about the dumplings, but he whispered to them that they made the party more interesting than usual. Butterbean concluded to the viewer(s) that it matters little showing off or using magic to befriend someone because a true friend will be befriended nonetheless; when such a friend is found, that's cooler than an ice cube. She shook a glass of ice cubes and giggled before the screen faded out to end the episode.

Trivia

• Since the introduction of a relative of one of the bean team, i.e. Rebel had no real motive to it, they decided to focus on her using magic as a way of occupying herself for the episode.

• This episode has a familiar feel to viewer(s) as it depicts someone getting into trouble while or when using means to befriend someone.

• For the first time, Butterbean became unsure as chaos happened and hadn't stopped it first-time with her whisk as it was off its case.

• Rebel's personality is typical of someone less than her said age.
